ELECTION DAY
Editon: 324
Over 34.5 million voters had the opportunity to go the polls on Sunday to vote in the municipal and regional elections. The elections were held to elect 8,018 Mayors, 65,552 councillors and 13 presidents of autonomous communities, and experts believe there could be radical political change in some parts of the country. In Málaga province 1,041.063 people had the right to vote, and although 78,000 European and Norwegian nationals living in Málaga were entitled to do so only about 18,000 took up the opportunity. Recent political polls along the Costa del Sol indicated that not much was expected to change in Town Halls, although the results in Estepona and Rincón de la Victoria were difficult to predict.
